Collaborative Research Project between DMC Institute/Keio Univ. and Kawasaki City Museum:
The Research Institute for Digital Media and Content, Keio University, Tokyo, Japan exchanged
the MOU with Kawasaki City Museum to launch a collaborative research project as of August 1, 2006. Both parties will conduct
testing of the "VOLUMEONE", a video content distribution platform released by DMC Institute, Keio Univ. in May, 2006.
Various digitization methods on historical 8mm, 9.5mm, 16mm, 35mm films and video mterials on older data formats will be also tested.
This anouncement was widely covered by the media including The Nikkei, The Yomiuri and The Kanagawa Shimbun. The Research Institute
for Digital Media and Content, Keio University, Tokyo has been established as a part of "Encouraging Development of Strategic Research Centers Program" of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports,
Science and Technology, Japan.
About Momoya Collection:
A leading food company, Momoya Co.Ltd., best known for Japanese savoury preserves, is also famous for being the pioneer of TV advertisements.
They have been creating animation based TV ads on one character, a real life comedian, Norihei Miki since its early days in 1950's. Momoya has donated a collection of
218 TV ads to Kawasaki City Museum at the time of inauguration in 1988. DMC Institute, in conjunction with KCM, intends to invite Scholars, Artists, Critics to discuss
the content and context of these commercials by distributing them on On-Line.
